Though, next year, I'll opt for going out with my friends and catching a midnight movie or something since I worked my way through the end of 2009 by working on a science paper and worrying about whether or not I have things in order... >_<;;
Blah.
I wasn't going to spend the first day of 2010 having a quarter-life crisis.
Decided to do something nice for my sis and my aunt whom expressed a desire for simple terrariums on their jars. My aunt's a teacher too so she wanted one to use for her class. I got a rather pretty lacy(?) red leafed plant - another type of which I've seen planted in basic terrariums. I added another seedling to my own jar since the plants seem to be doing well. The moss hasn't dried up either... so I think it's all good.
Ah. 2010... here's hoping that you'd be like my plants - full of hope and potential growth. ^_^
Happy New Year, everyone!
I decided to build a terrarium to impress next year's science class... and something to amuse me for a bit. I'm really a minimalist (and highly lazy) when it comes to building projects. The simpler, the better as I dislike destroying things in order to rebuild them and I really do prefer being as natural as possible.
Most of my instructions came from this site and the video below:
Eventually, I ended up with this:
Eventually, I'll add some moss to hide the naked soil and to make it look a little more filled up and finished. I even put a seashell in there... one from Krabi's Railay Beach, just to make myself feel better.
Of course, nothing is complete without a note from Spud telling me:

Two of the most poignant shots the photographers took on the furisode shoot we had on Monday. I felt like a proper lady... all preened and proper-ed up, with my hair done and having my kitsuke lady wrestle that obi into a proper shape on my back.
Ah..... girliness abounds....
Happy happy happy! XD
It appears as though I will be making it to Hometown for Christmas after all! Somehow, if all continues to go well. I'll see you all when I return!
The snow is impeding my travel plans. My flight is tomorrow at 6:20pm. Flights as late as 22:30pm tomorrow are already canceled, even though it's stopped actually snowing.
I can't sleep.
If I can't make it to Hometown I'm going to have a mental breakdown. I don't know what I'm going to do, but all the threads that are keeping me sane are all going to snap.
It's day 3 of my Krabi vacation and it has been nothing short of wonderful. XD
So far, I've been to the most popular tourist and swimming spots:
- Railay Beach - famed for its shallow bay that allows you to go almost half a mile out to sea with the water only reaching your chest.
- Tup Island - for it's 'prayer waves' and famous sandbanks.
- Poda Island - for its white beach and clear water
Today was 'Pamper Yourself' day with our trip to the spa that took up the entire afternoon. I've never felt so moisturized and massaged in my life. At times, I felt like I was pickling myself. Lol. We also had a well-cooked dinner of a whole red snapper with sweet and sour sauce, stir fried morning glory buds with kangkung, beef green curry and tom yum soup.
Currently, there's some cultural festival happening on the street where my hotel is at. Full of traditional thai dance, food and pretty much everything you usually find at the annual Visit Thailand fairs they hold at malls with a more rustic taste. They've even got the cutest kids running around in formal white shirts and pink brocade bloomers.
Speaking of cute kids... I've met the most adorable toddler whom I've christened Bob AoNang due to his dancing and walking around the stalls with his hands on his hips and a sense of impunity and style that can only come from a 2 year-old.
Tomorrow, we're going to Phi Phi Don's famous wide beach. I'd post pictures but it takes too long from this netcafe. Even windows messenger takes forever to load... but that small snag isn't going to spoil anything, really.
*sighs* I feel so happy I could cry.
Day 1 of my holiday and it is awesome-ness...
AWESOME-NESS!!!!
